Help > How do I put
MessageDance widgets on my sites?
What
does the MessageDance widget do?
The widget displays the messages that come to you from you and your
friends. It has links back to MessageDance for the complete message and
any comments that people want to make about it. Your widget also has a
link for people to request to be connected to you in MessageDance so
you can send each other messages. The look and feel of each widget is
fully customizable.
|
Where can I put it?
You can have a different widget for each site
you
want to put it. Currently, we have widgets supported for Facebook,
MySpace, Xanga, LiVEJOURNAL, Blogger, and WordPress(.org).
Check out the links from here
to see examples on each site.
If you have
another site you want to put it on not in the above list, you can try
the
WordPress widget code if the site allows Javascript. If your site
doesn't allow
Javascript, try the widget code for Xanga as it made in Flash. If you
just can't get it to work, ask us at support @ messagedanceinc.com to
see if we can help. If you want to request us to support another
site, send your comments to feedback @ messagedanceinc.com.

How do I add it?
Each site you want to add it to has different
instructiions. Go to the Get Widget
page for instructions for each
type of site. For Facebook, we are an application on their platform and
it is added automatically when you add
MessageDance as an application for your profile.
For Blogger, we can automatically
push the widget
to go onto your site. For all of the other widgets, you need
to
copy some code we provide you and paste it into the right area within
your website's administrative process. Again, instructions are provided
for each site.

How do I
change the way it looks?
Each widget can have it's own look and feel. From the Get Widget
page, select the type of site for the widget and choose the options for
how you want it to look. You can change the title of your widget, how
many messages to show in it, how the messages appear, whether they open
in a new window or not (Facebook and WordPress only), and color
options. Click inside the color box and a palate will appear for you to
select the color. Once you made your changes, click on the Save bottom
at the bottom and get your code. If you ever want to change the widget
after you have added it to a site, you can just come back to the Get
Widget page, make the changes, and save it. There is no need to re-add
it to your sites as we store the configuration and push it to the
widget on the site.

Is it different on each site that
I put it on?
Yes, each widget is it's own object, so you can have different looks
for each site. Also, if you ever want to change the widget after you
have added it to a
site, you can just come back to the Get Widget
page, make the changes,
and save it. There is no need to re-add it to your sites as we store
the configuration and push it to the widget on the site.
