Touching Story of Love and Marriage
A  very old man lay dying in his bed. In death's doorway, he
suddenly  smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookie
  wafting up the  stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself  from the bed.
Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way  out of the
bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down  the stairs,
  gripping the railing with both hands.
With  labored breath, he leaned against the door frame, gazing into
the  kitchen. Were it not for death's agony, he would have thought
himself  already in heaven.
There, spread out upon newspapers on the  kitchen table were
  literally hundreds of his favorite  chocolate  chip cookies.
WAS IT HEAVEN? 
Or was it one final  act of heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing
to it that he left  this world a happy man?
Mustering one great final effort, he  threw himself toward the
  table. The aged and withered hand,shaking,  made his way to a cookie
at the edge of the table, when he was suddenly  smacked with a spatula
by his wife.
Stay out of those,' she  said, 'they're for the funeral!!!!!

5 Free Tips to Increase Your Delivery Income

These are just a couple of the ideas from the ebook 'Pizza Confidential.' Hopefully you can put these to use the next time you work.

1. When you have a credit card receipt, use a highlighter to highlight the sections for tip, total and signature. Ask the customer to fill out the highlighted areas. By doing this you'll leave the customer with no excuse not to tip you. While you shouldn't ask for tips, this makes the message pretty clear without saying a word.

2. Keep some sodas in your car. They might get a bit warm, but if you're at a customer's house and you forget one it sure beats driving back to your store or purchasing one at a gas station.

3. Use those hazard flashers and park anywhere! This is especially true if you have a car topper. Park in the street, in fire lanes, handicap spots, etc. You're not going to be there long anyway. No need to look for a parking spot a block away then walk your food up. Just make a parking space. You'd be surprised what you can get by with. When at retail locations like malls, never park in the customer lot. You're conducting a legitimate business delivery and are no different than that UPS truck. Also, for malls learn to use the service entrances/fire exit hallways. You won't have to weave your way through loads of shoppers. Both these things will save you lots of time and steps, allowing you to take more deliveries.

4. If you drink coffee, make friends with clerks at the convenience store. Take them food, maybe even learn their names. If you have your own mug, you should be able to get free coffee. Most of these places do their coffee inventory by plastic cups, not the coffee itself. If you have your own cup and have a good relationship with the clerks, free refills shouldn't be a problem. While this doesn't increase my tips, it does increase my income by saving me $5/week.

5. Hypermiling. I stumbled on this concept when I was almost done writing P.C. Basically, this involves changing your driving habits to use the minimum amount of fuel possible by turning your engine off at long lights, coasting, decelerating rather than braking, and several other techniques. Some people get 40% better MPG than the estimates buy using these techniques, and the first time I applied them all to a full tank of gas I got an increase of about 8mpg.

The Singer/Songwriter Showcase is proving to be a positive event! The first two weeks, it rained but people still came out and participated. Last week, the singers, songwriters and musicians were able to perform for a captive audience. It's tough to play when no one is paying attention - makes you feel like they might as well turn on the radio. So when you have people having a good time AND listening, it's very rewarding. The feedback is great and we do listen to your ideas and thoughts. Until further notice, we are hosting the weekly Wednesday Showcase from 7:00 - 10:00 PM each and every week. This should give time to get home and re-group before heading to Coyote's. Get there early, sign up and grab a bite to eat from a generous portioned menu. Fish and chips were great last week! The Coyote Bar & Grille is at the corner of A1A and Eau Gallie Blvd. If you want to play/sing, contact Jon at jxxxx@xxxcom or just show up.

On Thursday, come to Beef O'Brady's on South Patrick Drive in Satellite Beach, just south of Tortoise Island from 6-9 and have a drink and a bite to eat on the patio. The kids can play the games in the cool game room while you socialize with other fun folks.

It's the Downtown Melbourne Friday Fest again! So this Friday, from 6-10 PM, I'll be doing the breaks for Blox Electric. Bring the kids and we'll all be dancing in the streets!

More people signed up for a table at the Musicians Swap Meet on Saturday, September 27^th, at the Cocoa Beach Country Club Pavilion. Tables are $25 and we have less than 30 now, so don't delay. Start pulling out all that unused equipment and music related items. We have spoken to several music teachers who are going to pass the word to their students and we're posting it on the Brevard County Schools website. Several artists will have their artwork for sale. Some people are bringing music memorabilia to sell, barter or trade.

Maple Mustard Salmon

2 tbsp. Maple Syrup
2 tbsp. White wine
1 1/2 tsp. Grated peeled fresh ginger
1 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
1/8 tsp. Salt
2-6oz. Salmon fillets
olive oil (or cooking spray)

Preheat boiler.
Combine first six ingredients in a small bowl and stir with a whisk.
Place salmon on a broiler pan coated with olive oil or cooking spray.
Brush salmon with half the maple syrup mixture. Broil until the fish flakes easily when tested with fork, about 10 min.
Baste frequently with remaining mixture while broiling.
